Karan Sampson has joined accounting firm Marcum LLP as director of business development for the firm’s alternative investment group. She previously ran her own consulting firm KSD Consulting.
Marcum LLP is pleased to announce that Karan Sampson has joined the Firm’s Alternative Investment Group as the Director of Business Development. She will be working with members of the Group to help them expand their practice and build their client base.

Sampson has worked in the alternative arena since 1993. As the Managing Director of her own consulting firm, KSD Consulting, Sampson designed business expansion and operational best practices solutions for hedge funds. Prior to KSD, she headed the hedge fund relationship management focus at Greenwich Associates, an international research-based consulting firm servicing the institutional financial services market.
Earlier in her career, Sampson raised assets for hedge funds and private equity funds at The Peabody Group and Perkins Fund Marketing. Additionally, she opened and managed the New York office for TASS Management, Inc., a private international firm that created the first electronic database for hedge funds. Sampson started her career in the foreign exchange market as a proprietary trader and advisor at several foreign banks, including National Westminster Bank Plc. and Bank of Montreal.
Sampson speaks frequently at industry conferences and is a member of 100 Women in Hedge Funds, 85 Broads and Women in Investment Management. She was a founding Board member of the Connecticut Hedge Fund Association.
Sampson is active with charitable causes, including the Komen NYC Race for the Cure. She received a Bachelor of Science in English and Economics from Georgetown University.
