Leading global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) announced that Osman Khan, a seasoned financial services professional, has joined its Transaction Advisory Group as a managing director based in New York.

Formerly with PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Transaction Services practice, Mr. Khan brings more than 15 years of experience providing mergers and acquisitions due diligence and other advisory services to financial services clients. In his new role at A&M, Mr. Khan will focus on pre- and post-acquisition due diligence and divestiture services for strategic and financial investors, across the broader financial services sector.

“In recent years, the savviest investors have dramatically changed their approach to due diligence,” said Paul Aversano, managing director and global practice leader of A&M’s Transaction Advisory Group. “Buyers have become significantly more selective, enhancing diligence efforts devoted to the acquisition process. An integrated due diligence approach has proven to be crucial, particularly for deals in sectors undergoing significant transformation, such as financial services. Osman’s extensive background and experience will augment our team of world-class professionals as we continue to serve our clients across all stages of the transaction lifecycle.”

“Osman brings a distinctive level of transaction and industry expertise to the acquisition and divestiture activities of his clients,” said Mark Sponseller, a managing director with A&M’s Transaction Advisory Group. “His domestic and cross-border experience with financial institutions and private equity firms adds tremendous value, and further enhances our team, in supporting clients that execute deals in the financial services sector.”

Mr. Khan has been involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions transactions, providing buy-side and sell-side due diligence expertise to strategic and financial investors. He has led transactions involving investment banks, global and regional commercial banks, mortgage companies, alternative investment managers (including private equity firms, hedge funds and secondary fund of fund managers), structured and life settlement companies, leasing companies (including small ticket and aircraft leasing firms), consumer and commercial finance companies (including non-prime specialty lenders), community banks, private banks and wealth managers, broker-dealers, insurance brokers, exchanges, prepaid card issuers, and other non-bank financial institutions.

Mr. Khan earned his bachelor’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a master’s degree in business administration from the Manchester Business School, with distinction. Mr. Khan is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
