Buyout shop Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. has named Ali Satvat as a director in its Menlo Park, Calif., office. Satvat joined from Apax Partners, where was a principal on the health care investment team.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co L.P. (together with its affiliates, “KKR”) today announced the appointment of Ali J. Satvat as a Director who will be based in Menlo Park. Mr. Satvat joins KKR from Apax Partners where he served as a Principal on the health care investment team and managed new investments and portfolio companies across various health care sub-sectors.
Mr. Satvat will join the more than 20 person global health care team that is led by Mike Michelson, Jim Momtazee and Dominic Murphy. The team is responsible for sourcing new opportunities and providing industry knowledge and expertise to KKR’s private equity transactions.
“There continue to be a number of developments that make health care an interesting sector for new investments. We have a strong team with deep industry expertise, and Ali is an important addition to that team,” said Jim Momtazee, a Member of KKR and a leader of the health care investment team.
Mr. Satvat started his career at The Blackstone Group in 2000 and, prior to Apax Partners, also worked in investment roles at Audax Group and Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Science, magna cum laude, from Harvard College and a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Management and Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
