William Sonneborn has joined Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., as head of a new asset management division. He previously was president and chief operating officer of The TCW Group, and succeeds Santurino Fanlo and David Netjes, who are both leaving the firm.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (“KKR”) today announced the creation of a new Asset Management division, KKR Asset Management, and named William C. Sonneborn as its head. KKR Fixed Income (“KFI”) will become part of this new Asset Management division. Sonneborn will succeed Saturnino S. Fanlo, CEO of KFI, KKR Financial Holdings LLC (“KFN”) and KKR Strategic Capital Management, L.L.C. (“SCF”) and David A. Netjes, COO KFI, KFN and SCF, who are both leaving the firm.

Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Sonneborn was President and Chief Operating Officer of The TCW Group, Inc., a leading investment management firm with over $130 billion in assets.

Sonneborn will also become CEO of KKR Financial Holdings LLC, a NYSE-listed company and one of the entities managed by KKR Asset Management.
