Korean Accelerator SparkLabs Appoints

SparkLabs, a new startup accelerator in Korea, has appointed two new general partners – Jay McCarthy and Awy Julianto. Both come from Pacific Advisers, a Singapore-based M&A and financial advisory boutique.


SparkLabs, a new startup accelerator in Korea, has add two new general partners: Jay McCarthy and Awy Julianto. Jay McCarthy and Awy Julianto are with Pacific Advisers, a Singapore-based boutique M&A and financial advisory firm. Jay has more than 22 years’ experience in Asia. Currently, as a Managing Partner of Pacific Advisers, he has advised, financed and invested in a number of deals across industries, principally mining & energy, technology and property. In recent years, Jay has focused on originating investment mandates for PA to invest its own capital in both publicly listed and private vehicles. Awy is a General Partner at Pacific Advisers and has extensive experience in technology, media, consumer products and telecom industries in Asia Pacific over the past 18 years. Awy’s key expertise is in the technology, gaming, e–commerce, and consumer retail sectors. His current areas of geographical focus are China, Korea and SEA – Indonesia. In 2012, two recent financial deals that Awy executed on were capital raising assignments for 360Buy and Ganji in China. Awy has served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Fox Digital Group at News Corp where he was in charge of the company\\\’s expansion into the Asia Pacific region including Australia and India. Additionally, SparkLabs added two new members of their honorary advisory board: Ray Ozzie and Michael Crow. Ray Ozzie is co-founder & CEO of Talko, a startup focused on a new generation of mobile communications apps and services. Previously, he was Chief Software Architect of Microsoft, the company’s most senior technical strategy & architecture role previously held by Bill Gates. Michael Crow is President of Arizona State University where he’s guiding their transformation into one of the nation’s leading public metropolitan research universities. Dr. Crow is also Chairman of In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s venture capital arm, and was the founding director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University. About SparkLabs SparkLabs is a startup accelerator founded by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs in South Korea. The focus will be on startup companies from the Internet, online gaming, mobile, ecommerce and digital media sectors. The mentorship-driven program will be three months in length and provides funding, office space, a structure program and access to a top-tier network of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, angel investors and executives.
