Menlo Park, Calif.-based Lightspeed Venture Partners has promoted John Vrionis to managing director. Vrionis joined Lightspeed in 2006 as a senior associate and was later promoted to principal. He has led the firm’s investments in DataStax, Embrane, Fast IP, and IO Turbine. Lightspeed has more than $2 billion under management.
Lightspeed Venture Partners, a leading global venture capital firm with over $2 billion of committed capital, today announced the promotion of John Vrionis to managing director.

Vrionis joined Lightspeed in 2006 as a senior associate and was later promoted to principal. During this tenure, he led the firm’s investments in a number of innovative startups, including DataStax, Embrane, Fast IP, and IO Turbine. Vrionis was also a member of the investment teams for portfolio companies, including AppDynamics, Cirtas, Delphix, Evolv, MapR Technologies, MuleSoft, Nimble Storage, Pliant, and Tintri.
