Mazor Robotics Sells Renaissance System to Florida Hospital

Mazor Robotics, a developer of innovative surgical robots and complementary products has sold its Renaissance™ system to the Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando.

Mazor Robotics Ltd. (TASE: MZOR), a developer of innovative surgical robots and complementary products, announced that Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida has purchased its Renaissance™ system. Renaissance is Mazor’s next-generation robotic surgical guidance system used for spine surgeries. The platform is the only available robotic technology specifically for spine surgery.
Florida Hospital for Children is a leading facility dedicated to pediatric medicine. Its pediatric orthopedic practice encompasses a broad range of treatments and techniques, including the use of minimally invasive surgery whenever possible. The hospital is an affiliate of Florida Hospital, one of the country’s largest not-for-profit health care providers with 22 campuses serving communities throughout Florida.
In addition to the installation of Mazor’s Renaissance system in Florida Hospital for Children, systems have been purchased by two other hospitals within the Florida Hospital system – Florida Hospital Carrollwood and Celebration Health Hospital. Florida Hospital is the first hospital network in the U.S. that has all three types of spine surgeons (neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons, and pediatric orthopedic surgeons) actively using the system for both degenerative and deformity corrective surgeries.
“I am so pleased to have been the first pediatric orthopedic surgeon in Florida to perform scoliosis corrective surgery with the Renaissance system,” stated Raymund Woo, MD, medical director of orthopedic surgery at Florida Hospital for Children. “The technology provides highly-accurate implant placements which can lead to improved surgical outcomes, that we at Florida Hospital are committed to providing to our patients.”
“We are thrilled to partner again with Florida Hospital, helping them deliver superior outcomes for the patients under their care,” said Ori Hadomi, chief executive officer. “To have an impact on pediatric scoliosis patients is particularly gratifying, and we look forward to extending the use of Renaissance to other specialists within spine surgery, further improving care for Florida Hospital’s base of patients.”
