Henry McVey has joined KKR as head of global macro & asset allocation. He will be an MD and based in New York. Previously, McVey was head of global macro & asset allocation for Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Prior to that, McVey was also a portfolio manager for Fortress Investment Group, focusing on global equities.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. (together with its affiliates, “KKR”) today announced the appointment of Henry McVey as Managing Director and Head of Global Macro & Asset Allocation. Mr. McVey, who will be based in New York, will help KKR and its clients assess global macro issues and trends across all of its investment disciplines, including private equity, hedge funds and public investing. Over time, Henry will help the firm build out its global macro and tactical asset allocation business.

Mr. McVey has 17 years of investment experience. Prior to joining KKR, he was Managing Director and Head of Global Macro and Asset Allocation for Morgan Stanley Investment Management (“MSIM”). At MSIM, he held lead portfolio management responsibilities and oversight of $8 billion in tactical asset allocation and global macro-related products. From 2007 to 2009, McVey was a Portfolio Manager for Fortress Investment Group LLC, focusing on global equities. Prior to Fortress, he was Morgan Stanley’s Chief U.S. Investment Strategist, during which time he was ranked Greenwich Associate’s #1 U.S. Portfolio Strategy Analyst in 2005 and #2 in 2006 and Institutional Investor’s All-America Portfolio Strategy Research runner-up.
Henry first joined Morgan Stanley in 1993 as a Research Associate. After completing his M.B.A. in 1997, he returned as a Senior Analyst covering financial institutions, ranking Institutional Investor’s #1 All-America Research Brokers & Asset Managers analyst from 2000 to 2003.
Henry is a board member at the TEAK Fellowship and serves on the investment committees for the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and St. Christopher’s School. He also serves on the advisory board to the Jefferson Scholarship at the University of Virginia. Henry holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
