Mid Europa Partners, a Central and Eastern European private equity firm, has closed its purchase of an additional stake in Falcon Group. The stake, which now totals 74.6%, was purchased from Lehman Brothers.
Mid Europa Partners has successfully completed the acquisition of an additional stake in Falcon Group as previously announced on 3 October 2008. The stake has been acquired from their consortium partner Lehman Brothers, taking their ownership in the Group to 74.6%, Falcon Group owns 100% of Ceske Radiokomunikace (“CRa”) and 39.2% of T-Mobile Czech Republic (“TMCZ”), which it acquired in November 2006.
CRa is the leading national provider of analogue and digital TV and radio broadcast transmission services and a leading alternative provider of telecommunications services in the Czech Republic.
TMCZ is the market leader in mobile telecommunications services in the Czech Republic with approximately 5.4 million subscribers, representing c. 40% market share of subscribers and is one of the few major CEE mobile assets not wholly-owned by a major operator.
