Mitt Quits: Nooooooooooo

Bain Capital founder Mitt Romney has decided to quit the race for president, according to Time.

This must come as disheartening news to the private equity pros who plugged around $480k into his campaign. On the other hand, at least they get to realize this loss quickly — it’s going to take much longer for some of the other investments made in 2007.

peHUB is also disheartened. Not because we think Romney would have made a good president, but because we now have less reason to discuss presidential politics (which was our second flame, in between sports and business). The original hope here was that Romney would get the GOP nomination, and former Virginia Governor — and Columbia Capital founder — Mark Warner would get the Democratic nod. But Warner bailed and now Romney has bombed…

So better luck next time Mitt. And please let there be a next time…
