Michael Valentine is coming to New York-based Netsmart Technologies as its chief executive, joining the company from Cerner Corp. James Conway, the prior CEO of Netsmart, is retiring and will continue to play a role in the leadership transition. Prior to joining Netsmart, Valentine served as EVP and COO with Cerner.
GREAT RIVER, N.Y. – May 9, 2011 – Netsmart Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of software and services for health and human services organizations, today announced that Michael Valentine has been named as the company’s chief executive officer. Valentine will join Netsmart from Cerner Corporation, where he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer. He will succeed James Conway, who is retiring after 15 years as Netsmart CEO. Conway will play an active role in the leadership transition.

In his most recent role at Cerner, Valentine was responsible for all global operations, including sales, consulting, technology, solution direction and support for Cerner’s worldwide operations. His transition from that role will be completed on May 13.
