Fidelity Equity Partners, a mid-market buyout shop that raised $500 million for its first fund last year, just hired Ian Blasco from Bain Capital as the partner to lead its tech, communications, and business services investments.
Blasco will be trolling for companies valued at between $50 million and $150 million that are enjoying growth of at least 10 percent per year. He’ll work in London, alongside partners Rob Ketterson, Brooke Ablon and Gray Hall. Fidelity has another office in Boston.
The firm’s most recent investment, its third, was a $37 million minority stake in London-based Complinet, which sells online regulatory software to 1,200 financial services companies.
Blasco had been a principal at Bain since 1998.
