O’Farrell Steps Out Of Investing Role At Andreessen Horowitz

Andreessen Horowitz said Wednesday that John O’Farrell has stepped away from his investing role at the firm.

O’Farrell was the third general partner to join the firm after co-founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz, coming on board in mid 2010. He had previously served as a executive vice president at Silver Spring Networks and before that at Opsware, a company co-founded by Andreessen and Horowitz.

A spokeswoman said O’Farrell will remain at the firm working with his existing investments and helping the entire a16z portfolio with “growth initiatives.”

“After a couple of years doing venture investing, he has decided that it’s not what he wants to do long term,” the spokeswoman said.
