Omnes invests in Biosyl as part of a sponsorless deal
Omnes, through its Omnes Mezzanis 3 fund (€100 million), has completed its 3rd sponsorless deal with its investment in Biosyl.
Founded in 2010, Biosyl adds value to wood chips and saw-mill waste by producing wood pellets for domestic stoves and pellet boilers. Located in Nièvre on 12 hectares of land, in the heart of forest residue, it has a production capacity of 100,000 tons of pellets per year and generates a turnover of €20 million.
Biosyl is the main producer in this local market, and one of the five largest manufacturers in France.
The company is also the first French player capable of developing small diameter hardwoods. Among its specificities, it has also secured its supply, one of the critical elements in this fast-growing market.
A source of renewable energy, wood pellets are a low-carbon fuel that is fully in line with the energy transition and the fight against climate change.
Biosyl marks Omnes Mezzanis 3 fund’s seventh investment.
Camille Delibes, Partner in charge of Private Debt, Omnes: “We are very pleased to be supporting Antoine de Cockborne in this new stage. Pellet stove heating is an alternative, economical and green solution that appeals to private individuals in France. Pellet sales are growing steadily. The plant has reached its cruising speed, but has strong growth potential.”
Antoine de Cockborne, Biosyl Chairman: “We are delighted to have the support of Omnes, to allow Biosyl to reach a key stage in its development. After experiencing a first growth phase with the launch of activities, the company had to restructure its capital to continue development. Omnes has allowed me as a founder to regain control of majority shareholding, while providing existing shareholders with a liquidity solution.”
