Onex wraps up buy of Swiss packaging company SIG Combibloc

Canadian private equity firm Onex Corp has completed its previously announced acquisition of SIG Combibloc Group AG for €3.75 billion (US$3.98 billion). The deal, which was done in collaboration with SIG’s management team, includes a contingent earn-out component. Onex’s flagship partnership Onex Partners IV and co-investors made an equity commitment to the deal of about US$1.2 billion. Based in Neuhausen am Rheinfall, Switzerland, SIG is a global provider of aseptic packaging machines and cartons. It was sold to Onex by U.S. packing business Reynolds Group Holdings Ltd.


Onex Completes Acquisition of SIG Combibloc Group

London, United Kingdom, March 13, 2015 – Onex Corporation (“Onex”) (TSX: OCX) today announced it has completed the acquisition of SIG Combibloc Group AG (“SIG”) for €3.75 billion, which includes a contingent earn-out component. SIG is a leading global provider of aseptic packaging machines and cartons. Onex Partners IV and certain limited partners as co-investors (the “Onex Group”) made an equity investment of approximately $1.2 billion. Onex’ share of the investment as a limited partner in the Fund and as a co-investor was $405 million. The Onex Group and SIG’s management team own 100% of the company.
