Patient care management firm Catalia Health adds Basu to board

San Francisco-based Catalia Health, a patient care management company, has named Dr. Pat Basu to its board. Basu is a partner at Chicago Pacific Founders.

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 31, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Catalia Health today announced the newest addition to its board, Dr. Pat Basu. Catalia Health is a chronic disease management company that provides an effective AI-powered solution to keep patients on therapy and improve outcomes. Currently a partner at Chicago Pacific Founders, Basu brings more than 15 years of experience in the corporate, government, private equity and clinical sectors to assist with Catalia Health’s strategy and operations.

“I’m honored to join the board of Catalia Health and work with a company that is both high-tech and high-touch, helping individual patients and populations, while bringing together the latest in patient-centered care and AI,” said Dr. Pat Basu, board member at Catalia Health. “The American healthcare system needs more innovative solutions such as Mabu and I look forward to helping with growth and scalability to improve the lives of patients struggling with chronic disease.”

Basu previously served as a White House advisor under the Obama administration and went on to co-found Doctor on Demand, a telehealth service that connects millions of patients with doctors from their phone or computer. He most recently held a role as senior vice president at Optum/UnitedHealth Group, where he was responsible for managing a nine billion dollar profit and loss statement and nine thousand employees at the leading edge of payer and provider integration. Basu’s background leading OptumCare, the nation’s largest physician practice portfolio and value-based care business, lends itself to further increase Catalia Health’s clinical quality while lowering costs in a value-based care and population-health environment.

“Pat joins us at a time when more people than ever are adopting innovative technologies to help manage and improve healthcare,” said Cory Kidd, founder and CEO of Catalia Health. “We look forward to the unique breadth of experience and valuable support that Pat will bring to the company as we advance in the commercial and consumer healthcare spaces.”
