LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, Inc., a Toronto-based provider of community laboratory diagnostic and testing services, will acquire B.C. Biomedical Laboratories, Ltd. of Vancouver. No terms of the deal, which should be completed in Spring 2013, were disclosed. LifeLabs is a portfolio company of Borealis Infrastructure Management, the infrastructure arm of Canadian public sector pension fund OMERS. Borealis invested C$1.3 billion in LifeLabs in 2007.
LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services Announces Agreement to Purchase B.C. Biomedical Laboratories
TORONTO, ONTARIO and VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA–(Marketwire – Jan. 15, 2013) – LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services (“LifeLabs”) today announced it has entered into an agreement to purchase B.C. Biomedical Laboratories Ltd. (“BC Biomedical”) to better serve patients in the province of British Columbia. LifeLabs and BC Biomedical provide laboratory testing services that help B.C. health care providers diagnose, treat, monitor and prevent disease in patients. The two organizations provide high quality diagnostic services to community patients through patient service centers, homecare and long-term care visits, and dedicated laboratory testing facilities.
