Permira Makes Paris Office Changes

Permira announced several changes to its Paris office: Benoit Vauchy will be promoted to head of the office, following Philippe Robert‘s retirement at year-end. Jean-Marc Espalioux, chairman and CEO of chairman and CEO of Financière Agache Private Equity, will join as a senior advisor and Simon Marc, formerly of Candover and Apax Partners, will join as a principal.


Permira announced today that it has strengthened its Paris team with the appointment of Benoit Vauchy as Head of the Paris Office. Benoit takes over from Philippe Robert who has decided to retire from the partnership at the end of the year to pursue other interests. In addition, Jean-Marc Espalioux is appointed Senior Adviser and Simon Marc joins as Principal.

Jean-Marc Espalioux is currently the chairman and CEO of Financière Agache Private Equity. Previously he has held a range of senior management positions including Deputy Managing Director and CFO of Compagnie Générale des Eaux, now Veolia Environnement, the global water and utility company and Chairman of the Management Board of Accor, the hotels and services firm. Under his leadership, Accor successfully stepped up its expansion and strengthened the global leadership of its two core businesses. Mr Espalioux is a Director of a number of large French companies including Veolia Environnement and Air France-KLM.

Simon Marc has twelve years of experience in the private equity market having previously been a Director at Candover in their London and Paris offices, with a particular focus on the French market. He also spent six years at Apax Partners and three years at Goldman Sachs. Simon’s sector expertise includes the consumer sector as well as the business and financial services sector. During his time with Candover and Apax, Simon originated, led and executed a number of investments including Alma Consulting Group, Séchilienne-Sidec, Seché Environnement and Fransbonhomme.

Benoit Vauchy is a Principal and has been working on a number of recent investments by the Permira Funds including NDS, Acromas and Birds Eye iglo. In addition to becoming Head of the Paris office, he will continue to be a board member of NDS.

Alexandre Margoline, an existing member of the Paris team, retains his focus on the TMT sector.
