Peter Coneway has joined Riverstone Holdings as a managing director. He previously was U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Before that, he spent over 30 years with Goldman Sachs, including the founding of its Houston office.

Riverstone Holdings LLC, a leading energy and power-focused private equity firm, announced today that Peter R. Coneway has joined the firm as a Managing Director. Mr. Coneway will be based in Houston focused on sourcing, structuring and executing energy investments.

Prior to joining Riverstone, Mr. Coneway served as United States Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein from 2006-2008. Mr. Coneway joined Goldman, Sachs & Co. in 1969 after graduating with an MBA from Stanford University. He founded Goldman Sachs’ Houston office in 1975 and was named a general partner in 1978. He then established Goldman’s equities sales, trading and research division in Tokyo in 1987-1988 before returning to manage the Houston office.
In Texas, Mr. Coneway previously served on the Governor’s Business Council, as a member of The University of Texas System Board of Regents, and as Chairman of the University’s M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors. He is currently a Trustee of The Museum of Fine Arts – Houston, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Texas Heart Institute and continues to serve as a member of the M. D. Anderson Board of Visitors.
