DALLAS — Vortex Partners LP today announced that it has added two new general partners, Dr. Robert J. Miles and Mr. Victor Liu, both formerly with Sevin Rosen Funds, to help direct the fund’s investments. Dr. Miles will concentrate upon investment opportunities in next-generation communications, particularly optical networking and breakthrough technologies. Mr. Liu will focus primarily on wireless and I.P. infrastructure deals. A former Entrepreneur in Residence and venture partner at Sevin Rosen in Dallas,
Dr. Miles led investments in optical startups Optical Micro Machines, Clarendon Photonics and Digital Furnace. Prior to joining Vortex, Mr. Liu was a Senior Associate with Sevin Rosen Funds, where he led investments in Internet infrastructure company Tonic Software and wireless supply chain management company Globe Ranger.
Based in Dallas, Vortex Partners closed on its second fund of $50 million in late 2000 and received investments from established limited partners, including Texas Instruments, the Partners Group, Stephens Inc. and many other notable investors.
