Randy Friedman, Harvard Drug Group’s Ex-CEO, Launches Investment Firm

Randolph “Randy” Friedman is launching an investment firm, Friedman Capital, that will focus on North American distribution and healthcare services sectors. Friedman is the former CEO of Harvard Drug Group, a generics pharmaceutical distributor. Friedman Capital  will invest the personal capital of the Friedman family and offer co-investment opportunities to high net worth and institutional investors. Washington D.C.-based Friedman Capital will invest in operating companies with $10 million EBITDA to $50 million EBITDA.

Friedman Capital, announced today that
Randolph (Randy) Friedman has joined the firm as a Managing Partner, and will lead the
launch of the firm’s direct private equity investment strategy.
Mr. Friedman, a successful entrepreneur, has over three decades of proven management
and investment experience. In 1988, Friedman acquired Great Lakes Wholesale Drugs
Co. and developed the company into The Harvard Drug Group, the nation’s largest
independent-focused generics pharmaceutical distributor, with 2010 sales in excess of
$500 million. During his 23 year stewardship as Chairman and CEO of Harvard Drug,
Mr. Friedman generated significant organic growth and completed 11 add-on acquisitions
resulting in two successful exits to two leading private equity investment firms. Mr.
Friedman continues to serve on the Board of Directors of The Harvard Drug Group.
Friedman Capital will target control and significant growth capital investments in middlemarket
companies in the North American Distribution and Healthcare Services industries.
The firm will focus on operating companies with EBITDA of $10 million to $50 million.
Friedman Capital will invest the personal capital of the Friedman family and will offer
co-investment opportunities to a select group of high net worth and institutional investors
for larger transactions.

Mr. Randolph Friedman earned a B.A. from Trinity College, Hartford CT, graduating Phi
