Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) announced today that Risa Stack, PhD., a long time partner at KPCB, has been named General Manager of GE’s Emerging Health Innovations, reporting to Sue Siegel, CEO of healthymagination. Stack has served for two years on the advisory board for healthymagination – GE’s $6 billion global commitment to provide better healthcare for more people by making healthcare more affordable and accessible – and joining healthymagination was a natural next step into an operating chapter of her career.
“Risa is the perfect mix of investor, operator and innovator,” said Brook Byers, Partner at KPCB, an active and leading venture investor in life sciences. “While she will be missed at KPCB, we are excited that we can continue to work with Risa in her operating role at GE, a company with which we have a long history of collaboration and partnership. We look forward to working even more closely with GE and healthymagination to transform healthcare businesses together.”
“For the last 15 years, Risa has been involved in building some of the most innovative products and companies emerging in healthcare,” said Sue Siegel, CEO healthymagination. “Her experience will be a tremendous asset to healthymagination as we apply GE scale to transform healthcare by incubating innovative, disruptive, and scalable solutions.”
Stack was a partner for nine years in KPCB’s life sciences group investing in precision medicine, therapeutics and platform technologies. At KPCB, Stack was the founding CEO and board member of several precision medicine companies. In addition to driving innovation through business creation, Stack is a leader in developing public policy in molecular diagnostics and precision medicine.
