Saban Capital Group Inc has promoted Richard Yen to managing director of private equity. Yen, who is based in San Francisco, has been with the firm since June 2008. Previously, Yen worked at Blueprint Ventures where he served as a principal.

Los Angeles, CA September 15, 2015 – Saban Capital Group, Inc. (“SCG”), the private investment firm specializing in the media, entertainment and communications industry, today announced the promotion of Richard Yen to Managing Director, Private Equity. Yen, who has been with SCG since June 2008, will continue to lead the digital media and consumer Internet investment practice for SCG. Yen will support all digital initiatives as SCG plans to expand its investment portfolio in this space.
Based in San Francisco, Yen’s ongoing focus is growth equity investments, pre-IPO investments and buyouts in digital media, mobile and consumer Internet companies. In his seven years with SCG, Yen has been instrumental in growing the SCG investment portfolio with companies including Vessel, ironSource and PlayBuzz, among others. Additionally, Yen has advised SCG’s portfolio of companies including Saban Brands and Univision on digital acquisitions and strategies.

Prior to working for SCG, Yen served as a Principal at Blueprint Ventures and established the firm’s digital media and Internet investing practice. Prior to Blueprint, Yen worked for Rustic Canyon Partners, a technology venture capital firm where he focused on software and wireless investments.
