Anthony Martino and Gregg Newman have joined Sagent Advisors as co-heads of the firm’s Alternative Capital Markets business. They previously ran the same business for UBS.

PRESS RELEASE

Sagent Advisors announced today that Anthony Martino and Gregg Newman have joined the firm as Co-Heads of the firm’s Alternative Capital Markets business. Messrs. Martino and Newman will be responsible for structuring and raising equity, equity-linked, mezzanine and debt securities as well as advising companies on a wide range of capital structure matters.

Mr. Martino and Mr. Newman, both of whom join Sagent from UBS, where they most recently led the Alternative Capital Markets Group, will be based in the firm’s New York headquarters. While at UBS, they leveraged their deep relationships in the private equity, venture capital, hedge fund and mezzanine debt communities to originate, structure and privately place capital to support client growth and acquisition initiatives as well as facilitate recapitalizations. They also advised corporate and financial sponsor clients on structured debt and minority equity investments. Chris Sweet, who worked with Messrs. Martino and Newman at UBS for the past five years, has also joined Sagent as an Associate. The addition of this group continues the acceleration of Sagent’s recent expansion. Since 2008, the firm has added 11 senior bankers across several key industry sectors and product areas, expanding its senior ranks by approximately 40%, and has opened offices in Chicago, Charlotte and San Francisco.

Hal Ritch, Chief Executive Officer of Sagent Advisors, said: “As the market has shifted dramatically during the past year, clients are relying more on their most trusted advisors to deliver innovative capital solutions to position their companies for both survival and growth. Anthony and Gregg not only bring the expertise, but a highly regarded track record in the alternative capital markets space that will enhance Sagent’s ability to deliver strategic financial advice to our clients during these turbulent times.”

Mr. Martino joins Sagent after eight years at UBS, where he was an Executive Director and led teams that executed private capital transactions across industry sectors that raised more than $3 billion. Notable transactions include five deals for Eclipse Aviation, which raised more than $600 million in the aggregate; a $650 million private placement for ICO N.A.; and the sale of 70% of Oceania Cruises to Apollo Management LP. Mr. Martino received his JD/MBA from Emory University and is a licensed Member of the New York State Bar.

Mr. Newman joins Sagent after seven years at UBS, where he was an Executive Director. Notable transactions include advising Liberty Media on its $530 million structured investment into Sirius XM Radio; raising $210 million of mezzanine capital for GSI Group to finance its acquisition of Excel Technology; raising $80 million of mezzanine capital for International Textile Group, a WL Ross & Co. portfolio company; and raising $235 million of equity for Itron to finance its acquisition of Actaris Metering Systems. Prior to working at UBS, Mr. Newman worked at Mediatech Capital Partners and Deloitte & Touche. He holds an MBA from Columbia University and a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.
