Former ZoomInfo CEO Brings Go-to-Market Intelligence to Portfolio of High-Growth Companies
BOSTON, April 24, 2019 – Great Hill Partners, a leading growth-oriented private equity firm, today announced a further expansion of its Operating Partner program with the appointment of Derek Schoettle, former CEO of ZoomInfo. Schoettle will work collaboratively with Great Hill investment teams and portfolio company management to execute and optimize growth strategies.
“We’re delighted to welcome Derek to our team, and to leverage his experience developing the intuitive business strategies and execution culture needed to scale high-growth technology enterprises,” said Chris Gaffney, Managing Partner at Great Hill Partners. “We got to know Derek well at ZoomInfo, and we are confident he will be a strong mentor to the entrepreneurs leading our companies who are bringing disruptive technologies to market.”
Schoettle has more than 20 years of experience leading high-growth technology companies and large-scale businesses, and catalyzing in-house innovation to drive commercial success. Great Hill sourced and appointed Schoettle as CEO of ZoomInfo to accelerate the company’s evolution from a leading sales and marketing performance management product to an intelligent, data-savvy customer engagement platform.
Schoettle previously held senior leadership roles at IBM, leading the Watson & Cloud and Data Services platforms, and Cloudant, a NoSQL database-as-a-service (DBaaS) provider, where he was responsible for go-to-market, business operations and customer success. He started his career at enterprise data companies Vertica Systems and IntelliReach (later acquired by Infocrossing). Schoettle holds an M.B.A from Babson College’s Olin Graduate School of Business and a B.A. from Dickinson College.
“It became apparent to me through our work together at ZoomInfo that Great Hill Partners has become a go-to-collaborator for entrepreneurs thanks to its sector knowledge, custom partnership model, and experience bringing high growth companies to market,” said Schoettle. “I’m excited to join the growing operating team and to work with the portfolio companies as they accelerate their growth.”
Schoettle is the third addition to the Great Hill Operating Partner Program following the appointments of Jesse Hertzberg and Michael Thompson in 2018.
