Skip Besthoff next week will join Castile Ventures as a partner, peHUB has learned. He is currently a principal with Rho Ventures, where he helped lead such deals as Everdream, IntraLinks, MegaPath Networks and Verified Person.
A press release from Castile is expected later today or tomorrow.
“I’ve had a great run with Rho, but am very excited to be joining a platform like Castile,” Besthoff says. “The big change will be that Rho has a broad investment strategy that includes early-stage, expansion-stage and growth equity — whereas Castile focuses on early-stage.”
Another change will be that Besthoff will be leaving New York for Boston, although it’s basically a return trip. “My wife is from Boston, and we actually had been living there before moving to New York to join Rho in 2000,” he explains.
Nina Saberi, Castile’s founder and managing general partner, says that the firm had interviewed multiple candidates, with an emphasis on finding someone who could expand its expertise in the software application and Internet services sectors. “Skip is a great addition to our team, and his relationship with myself and [Castile partner] Dave Duval goes back a long time.”
