Press Release

Square 1 Bank, the premier banking partner to entrepreneurs and the venture capital community, today announced that Ben Pattison and David Kho have relocated to Boston to support the region’s continued growth. Pattison and Kho will be responsible for developing and managing relationships with prospective and existing clients.

“Ben and David have both played integral roles in the growth and success of our portfolio on the East Coast. They know venture banking well and have extensive experience working with technology and life science entrepreneurs,” said Michael Madden, senior vice president and managing director in Square 1 Bank’s Boston office. “Boston is a key market for the venture capital ecosystem and an important growth market for Square 1 Bank. Adding Ben and David to the Boston team allows us to continue our growth while maintaining top-tier service to our clients.”

Since joining Square 1 Bank in 2008, Pattison has held several roles of increasing responsibility in the Bank’s technology lending practice. He comes to Boston after managing the Mid-Atlantic region, where he played a key role in establishing the Bank’s presence as a leader in the venture community. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wake Forest University.

Kho also joined the Square 1 team in 2008. Prior to relocating to Boston, Kho helped manage the Northeast region’s life science portfolio from Square 1 Bank’s headquarters in Durham, NC. Kho holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

“With proven track records in establishing and growing relationships and providing exemplary service, Ben and David have both been instrumental in expanding Square 1 Bank’s presence in the company’s Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions,” said Phil Gager, senior vice president and managing director in Square 1 Bank’s life sciences practice. “We are excited to have additional boots on the ground in Boston. Our clients, partners and prospects throughout the region will benefit from their experience and enthusiasm.”
