GREENWICH, Conn., Sept. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Starwood Capital Group, a leading global private real estate investment firm, announced today that it has hired two senior executives to help oversee its growing global portfolio of assets — Robert Scoville, who will serve as Managing Director and Head of Asset Management, and Neil Harris who will be Senior Vice President of European Asset Management beginning in October.
Mr. Scoville, who will be based in Greenwich, CT, brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having most recently served as a Managing Director with Apollo Global Real Estate, where he oversaw asset and portfolio management. Prior to that position, he held a similar position at Citi Property Investors (“CPI”), the private equity real estate platform of Citigroup, which was acquired by Apollo in 2010. At Citi Mr. Scoville was responsible for the direct management of the North American Fund and its investment, as well as developing, implementing and managing the asset portfolio globally. Prior to his work with CPI, Mr. Scoville oversaw the combined Citigroup and Travelers platform as the head of the asset management team. He previously spent more than ten years as a project manager and architect in commercial real estate development. Mr. Scoville holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture and a Masters of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut.
Mr. Harris, who will be based in London, will help oversee Starwood’s growing European asset portfolio in his new role and report jointly to Mr. Scoville and Jeffrey Dishner, a Senior Managing Director and Head of Real Estate Acquisitions and Debt Investments for Starwood in Europe. For the past four years, he has served as the European Head of Asset Management for Invesco Real Estate and previously was the Head of Asset Management for GE Real Estate in the United Kingdom. Mr. Harris began his career as a Surveyor for Nationwide Building Society which he did for various companies for nine years. He then joined Marleybone Warwick Balfour Group as an Asset Manager responsible for the acquisition, management and disposal of various mixed portfolios. Mr. Harris graduated from Leicester Polytechnic, now De Monfort University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Land Management.
“We are very pleased to have added two senior and accomplished executives of the caliber of Robert and Neil to our deep bench of talent at Starwood,” said Barry Sternlicht, chief executive officer of Starwood Capital Group. “Robert will be instrumental in growing and managing our portfolio of global assets, which range from office buildings and other commercial projects to multifamily assets and single-family land parcels. And, as we continue to grow our European presence, Neil will lend his strong understanding of the real estate market in Europe to our Pan-European Asset Management business. Both Neil’s and Robert’s expertise and development of ‘best practices’ in these areas will only bolster our momentum in building this portfolio and providing great returns to our investors.”
