Sun Capital Partners said it has completed the acquisitions of Dutch retailers V&D and La Place from Maxeda Retail Group. Financial terms of the deal were not released. Formed in 1887, V&D is the largest department store chain in the Netherlands. La Place is the second largest restaurant chain in the Netherlands. Sun Capital has offices in Boca Raton, Fla.; Los Angeles; and New York.
We are pleased to announce that an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, Inc. has completed the acquisition of V&D B.V. (“V&D”) and La Place B.V. (“La Place”) from Maxeda Retail Group B.V. An affiliate of Sun Capital Partners, Inc. committed to fund the purchase price and future working capital requirements of the Group upon signing of the transaction. At completion, part of the commitment was replaced by a debt package from three local banks.
V&D was founded in 1887 and is the largest department store chain in the Netherlands with 62 stores. V&D has a strong presence in the Dutch market with more than 1.7 million visitors per week.
La Place is the second largest restaurant chain in the Netherlands providing fresh, natural foods from both standalone locations and within V&D stores. La Place operates restaurants, cafes, sandwich shops, chocolateries and other food stores across the Netherlands and Belgium.
