Syntaxis Capital, a provider of mezzanine finance in Central Europe, has appointed Rupert Coull. Coull will take on central responsibility for all elements of the firm’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) policy, as Syntaxis furthers its commitment to responsible investment.
Syntaxis Capital (“Syntaxis”), a leading provider of mezzanine finance in Central Europe, has boosted its responsible investment credentials with the appointment of Rupert Coull, a seasoned expert in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. Rupert will take on central responsibility for all elements of the firm’s ESG policy, as Syntaxis furthers its commitment to responsible investment.
Rupert joins the firm with more than a decade’s experience in finance. Having initially qualified as a barrister, he spent eight years in investment banking, working for firms such as Cazenove and Merrill Lynch. Most recently he ran a large private equity portfolio at a pension fund which placed a premium on ESG.
Ben Edwards, Managing Partner at Syntaxis, commented:
“In line with the growing importance of ESG in the industry, we have continuously developed our firm’s responsible investment principles. We are accelerating this process with the establishment of a dedicated ESG officer, and we are delighted to secure someone as experienced and talented as Rupert to fill this crucial position.
“At Syntaxis, being a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles of Responsible Investment, we understand the importance of investing responsibly, both from the point of view of our investors and that of our portfolio companies. Rupert’s experience in both public markets and as a limited partner makes him perfectly suited for this important role. This is something we, like our investors, take very seriously. As we continue to expand, often where consideration of such issues may be less fully developed than it is in Western Europe and the US, it will only emphasise the importance of having Rupert on board.”
