Terraneo Jumps to Clayton, Dubilier & Rice from Permira

Sonja Terraneo has joined Clayton, Dubilier & Rice as a partner. She will focus on European transaction sourcing at CD&R, as well as evaluating, structuring and managing investments, according to a statement Monday. Terraneo is a former partner and global head of industrials at Permira.


Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, LLC today announced that Sonja Terraneo, former partner and Global Head of Industrials at Permira, will join the Firm as a partner to focus on European transaction sourcing, as well as evaluating, structuring and managing investments.

segments and European countries that are a focus for the Firm.”

In Europe, CD&R has led a number of investments in market-leading businesses, including Rexel, the leading global distributor of electrical supplies, Exova, a global provider of laboratory testing, advising and assuring services, and BCA, Europe’s number one vehicle
auction and remarketing company. The company also exited successfully in 2007 from VWR International, a leading global distributor of laboratory supplies acquired from Merck KGaA, and from Brakes, the leading supplier to the foodservice sector in the U.K. and France.

At CD&R, Ms. Terraneo joins a team of European operating partners that includes Vindi Banga, former member of the Unilever plc Executive Board; Fred Kindle, former president and chief executive officer of ABB Ltd.; and Roberto Quarta, former chairman and chief executive officer of BBA Group plc. Jack Welch, former chairman and chief executive officer of General Electric Company, and A.G. Lafley, former chairman, president and chief executive officer of The Procter & Gamble Company, are partners of the Firm.

Prior to Permira, Ms. Terraneo worked at Cinven, where she was a partner, and at Schroder Ventures, Permira’s predecessor.
