Travers Smith Names PE Chief

Philip Sanderson has been named head of private equity at UK-based law firm Travers Smith. He has been a partner with Travers Smith since 2001, and succeeds group co-founder Charles Barter.



Travers Smith, the award-winning UK based law firm, has promoted Philip Sanderson, Partner, to Head of Private Equity.  Philip will assume the role as of the 1 July 2008 from Charles Barter who co-founded the group in 1996.  Charles will continue to focus on Private Equity and his wider management and marketing role.

Philip has been a Partner since 2001 and has played an integral part of the Private Equity team's development since its inception.  Having spent most of his working career on private equity transactions, including Large Deal of the Year Award (BVCA Real Deals) for the sale of NCP for 3i, Philip is well placed to continue Charles' pioneering work. Under Charles' leadership the group has expanded to 9 partners and has received a number of accolades, most recently it was named Private Equity Team of the Year (EVCJ).  The team has advised on over 60 deals valued in excess of
