Two Shindigs Down, One To Go

Greetings from San Francisco, where last night we had around 300 people show for our first-ever peHUB Shindig within the city limits. Many expressed surprise that we had an open bar. I was surprised that they were surprised. VCs, buyout folks, entrepreneurs and assorted hangers-on. Much thanks to all, and we’ll certainly return to do it again.

We also raised approximately $3,500 from paid ticket sales, which will be donated to a trust fund for Christopher Rodriquez, the 10-year-old Oakland boy who was recently paralyzed after being hit with a stray bullet while attending a piano lesson. The money will help pay for his medical care and lifelong related expenses. Ticket proceeds from Tuesday’s Denver event will be split between two local groups: A violence prevention program called Project Pave, and a digital education initiative called Open World Learning.

There will be one more check to give away tonight in Seattle, with the charity chosen by event attendees. If you don’t already have a ticket, get one here. I look forward to seeing a bunch of you there!
