PRESS RELEASE
Valhalla Partners today announced that it has appointed Randy Jacops as a Venture Partner and Josh Resnik as a Venture Advisor. Jacops is a process-improvement operations expert based in Austin, TX, and Resnik is a DC-based digital media executive and angel investor.
Jacops was formerly CEO of Versata Enterprises Inc., which invests capital and operational excellence in technology companies. He oversaw the acquisition of nearly 20 software companies during his tenure there. Randy will focus on orchestrating process improvements for some of Valhalla’s portfolio companies.
“What drew me to Valhalla,” said Jacops, “was their belief in a set of company-building processes that, taken together, are a design pattern for a successful new company. Putting effective processes to work in companies is my career passion, and I’m confident that my skills and Valhalla’s focus will produce great things. Success in venture investing requires not only great product expertise and financial capitalization expertise, but also the skills and experience around how to really focus a company on what it’s good at. That’s the area where we will direct our focus.”
Resnik is currently founder and Managing Member of Avid Capital Advisors, LLC, where he provides strategic advisory services for companies at all stages in the fields of technology, media, e-commerce, and education. Prior to Avid Capital Advisors, he was Vice President and General Manager of Gannett Digital, the digital division of Gannett (NYSE: GCI), where he led multiple acquisitions and investments and served on the Boards of Directors for several Gannett portfolio companies.
“Valhalla is well-known and well-respected in the digital media world,” said Resnik. “It’s a great platform for finding and growing successful digital-media companies.”
Art Marks, Managing General Partner, said, “As we’ve evolved our strategy of investing in sectors where we have deep knowledge, we’ve invested across all stages of company development. Randy will focus on and be of great help on some of our more mature companies whose business is predictable but needs to be tuned for maximum performance.
Resnik, in turn, will focus more on some of our younger companies, said Marks.
“Very early companies with a very big idea and very big risks continue to be a focus for us,” he said. “Josh has spent years evaluating, assisting, investing in, and mentoring young startup teams in the digital media space, and we believe he will add substantial value to our investment efforts there.”
Before Gannett, Resnik was at AOL, where he led the team responsible for all major commercial transactions at AOL Media Networks. He was instrumental in establishing AOL’s alliance with Google in 2002.
