VC Post of the Year

My flight back to Boston is boarding, but I’d be remiss in not pointing you over to this post on Fred Wilson’s blog. It’s about how Internet investing VCs need a new path to liquidity, because the current ones are broken.

His gist is that the IPO window has been effectively closed for years, and that too many VC-backed Internet companies languish once acquired by big strategics like Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, etc. That last part doesn’t necessarily matter in terms of venture ROI, but still troubles Fred as both a Web geek and friend/mentor to his entrepreneurs.

I’ve got three hours to ponder, and will have some thoughts later tonight or tomorrow morning…
