Vestar Capital Partners, a private equity firm based in New York, has promoted three of its principals to managing director: Chris A. Durbin, Brian J. Modesitt and Kristian M. Whalen.
Vestar Capital Partners, a leading international private equity firm, today announced three promotions. Chris A. Durbin, Brian J. Modesitt and Kristian M. Whalen have each been promoted to managing director. Messrs. Durbin, Modesitt and Whalen were all previously principals with the firm.
Mr. Durbin joined Vestar in 2007. He is currently a member of Vestar Resources Group, the firm’s team of professionals who serve as strategic, operational and organizational advisors to portfolio company management teams. Mr. Durbin was previously with Bank of America, where he served as Managing Director of Strategy and Business Development for the bank’s Global Wealth and Investment Management business. He received his M.B.A., with distinction, from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a B.B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame, where he was a Notre Dame Scholar and recipient of the Kent Award for excellence in finance.
Mr. Modesitt joined the firm in 2002. He is currently a member of the firm’s Financial Services Group. Mr. Modesitt was previously with TCW/Crescent Mezzanine and Morgan Stanley & Co. where he focused his activity on financial institutions. He holds an M.B.A., with honors, from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and earned his B.A., summa cum laude, from Franklin & Marshall College, where he was elected a member of the academic honor society Phi Beta Kappa. He also received a Fulbright Scholarship, which he used to study at the National University of Singapore.
Mr. Whalen originally joined Vestar in 1997, and rejoined the firm in 2002 after earning his M.B.A. Mr. Whalen is currently a member of Vestar’s Consumer and Business Services Group. Previously, Mr. Whalen was with the M&A Group at Paine Webber Incorporated in New York. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.A., with honors, from Brown University.
