G2 Capital Advisors said Wednesday that Matthew Whiting has joined the firm as an MD and head of Financial Restructuring. Whiting was previously with Restructuring Group at Lazard.

G2 Capital Advisors announced today that Matthew Whiting has joined the firm as a Managing Director and head of Financial Restructuring for G2 Capital Advisors. Matthew has over 18 years of experience in the financial services industry, and he specializes in in-court and out-of-court financial restructurings and deleveraging transactions for debtors and creditors.
Prior to joining G2 Capital Advisors, Matthew spent seven years in the Restructuring Group for Lazard, a global investment bank. While with Lazard in London and New York, he was responsible for sourcing and executing balance sheet restructurings and capital raises in several geographies. While at Lazard, Matthew executed several complex transactions including advising a real estate company on its $400M restructuring, advising the creditors of a media company on a $500M refinancing and advising a casino on its $400M restructuring through chapter 11.
Prior to Lazard, Matthew was the Chief Operating Officer for Eagle Lake Capital, LLC, a SEC registered investment advisor based in Los Angeles focused on distressed/value investing. He was responsible for all financial, operational, and trading functions at the company.
Prior to Eagle Lake Capital, Matthew spent six years in the Restructuring Group of Rothschild, a global investment bank. During his time at Rothschild, he executed Financial Restructuring and M&A mandates for clients across a broad range of industries. These mandates included advising a global engineering and construction firm on its $600M out-of-court restructuring, advising a welding products company on its $800M restructuring through chapter 11 and the in-court sale of a spandex manufacturer to a strategic partner.
