Z Capital Partners is raising $1 billion for a special situations fund, according to a regulatory filing. The Lake Forest, Ill.-based firm was launched last year by Black Diamond Capital Management founder James Zenni, and initially raised a hedge fund. Its placement agents include Bear Stearns.
