The hire will be responsible for all aspects of the acquisition of portfolio investments including origination, transaction process, due diligence and completion through building out and leveraging investment deal teams located in Canada, the U.S. and the United Kingdom. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; an MBA or CPA is strongly preferred. Law firm Winston & Strawn is searching for a mid-senior level M&A and private equity associate. Candidates should have five years of M&A and private equity transactional experience. Also, he or she should have experience representing financial sponsors and strategic buyer/sellers in connection with leveraged buyouts, sell-side transactions, growth equity and minority investments and related strategic transactions. Experience with capital formation, partnerships and finance would also be helpful. Admittance to the Illinois Bar is preferred. The position is in Chicago.
Cerberus Capital Management is seeking an associate to work with the emerging markets distressed debt team. Duties include assisting in the group’s coverage of the distressed universe and finding investment opportunities in that universe; following quarterly earnings calls and maintaining updated financial and capital structure analysis on companies in the coverage universe; generating new analysis when uncovered company becomes distressed; and tracking industry trends for the companies covered. Candidates should have one to three years of experience in credit research or investment banking at a top-tier investment bank; Spanish or Portuguese business language skills are preferred. The position is in New York.

The hire will help source, perform due diligence, invest in and assist the next cohort of market-leading startups as a key member of the investment team. Associates at Silverton report to the partners and are involved in all aspects of the business. Candidates should have one to three years of investment or M&A experience and/or significant previous startup experience; a BS/BA degree or higher with technical or engineering background preferred; and an ability to quickly develop an informed perspective on new markets.
