SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) – Computer chip maker Intel Corp. said Thursday the Federal Trade Commission asked for more information on the company's proposed deal with Switzerland's STMicroelectronics NV.
The companies, along with private equity firm Francisco Partners, plan to form a new company that will buy up Intel's and STMicroelectronics' NOR flash businesses. The businesses make a type of flash memory technology used mostly in cell phones.
Intel said it would respond to the request promptly. Shares of Intel fell 13 cents to $24.96 in premarket trading.
