Acorn Growth Cos, an aerospace and defense-focused private equity firm, named Peter Greenthal CEO. Greenthal also becomes president of Acorn Growth portfolio company Raisbeck Engineering, a provider of aircraft modifications for business and commercial aircraft.
Melissa Bethell stepped down as managing director at Bain Capital, Private Equity News said. Bethell joined Bain in 1999 and is one of firm’s most senior dealmakers in Europe.
Highland Capital Management hired Laurie Whetstone as a managing director and Kieran Brennan as a director. Both work on business development, expanding its team in anticipation of increased opportunities in distressed credit. Whetstone joins from Bernstein Private Wealth Management. Brennan joins from Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group.
Huron Capital tapped Scott Hauncher a new partner. Previously, Hauncher was a partner at Superior Capital.
Insignia Capital Group named Sean Kelly vice president of business development. Kelly previously was director of business development at Serent Capital.
KKR: Jacques Veyrat was named a senior adviser to support the firm’s investment activities in France. Veyrat founded and currently manages Impala SAS, an investment firm active in energy, manufacturing, consumer brands and asset management.
Snow Phipps Group named Philip S. Kemp Jr a managing director and head of investor relations. Kemp previously was principal– investor relations at Waud Capital Partners.
Spectrum Equity hired Coley Florance as head of talent. She previously was operating director of human capital at TPG Capital.
Strategic Value Partners named Dagmar Kent Kershaw to its advisory council. Kershaw is former head of credit fund management in Europe and Australia at Intermediate Capital Group.

Davey Coach Sales, backed by Progress Equity Partners, hired Marcus Watts as national manager/retail sales trainer. Davey provides new and used midsized buses and shuttles in North America.
EyeSouth Partners: Rex Adams joined as CEO. Adams was most recently CEO of Payspan. EyeSouth is a portfolio company of Shore Capital Partners.
Lithium Technologies, a portfolio company of Vista Equity Partners, named Pete Hess CEO. Hess is former CEO of Advent Software. Lithium Technologies is the San Francisco provider of online community and social media management products.
Mopec, a portfolio company of Blackford Capital, appointed Sally Brandtneris and Joyce deJong to the board. Brandtneris is CFO at Logicalis while deJong is the medical examiner for 10 counties in Michigan. Mopec is the Oak Park, Michigan, maker of pathology, anatomy, mortuary and necropsy equipment and products.
Paragon Bioservices, the Baltimore producer of biopharmaceuticals and vaccines, named Philip Wills chief commercial officer, John Conner chief manufacturing officer and William Thomas Jr chief scientific officer. The company also hired Randy Henrickson as vice president of manufacturing and Dermot McCaul as vice president of IT. Paragon is backed by NewSpring Capital and Camden Partners.
PDS Gaming, the Minneapolis provider of gaming equipment and financing solutions, named Alex Dungan CEO. Dungan most recently was vice president of the gaming operations business unit and sales administration at Bally Technologies, currently part of Scientific Games. PDS Gaming is backed by Northlight.
Quick Base, the Cambridge, Massachusetts, provider of low-code application-development platforms, named Cynthia Gumbert vice president of marketing. Her background includes leadership roles at Markforged, CA Technologies, Dell and MessageOne. Quick Base is backed by Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe.
R9B, the Colorado Springs provider of advanced cybersecurity products, services and training, named Steve Picot chief revenue officer and Jack Bruckner CFO. Picot is former chief sales officer at IronNet Cybersecurity while Bruckner was vice president of finance and accounting at Schryver Medical Sales and Marketing. R9B is a portfolio company of Tracker Capital Management.

Baird appointed John Taft vice chairman and a member of its executive committee. Taft, a former CEO of RBC Wealth Management, most recently served as a consultant for Deloitte & Touche. Baird also hired Jean Stack, John Song and Alex Sevilla for its global investment banking team to lead the firm’s government-services investment banking coverage. All three previously covered the government-services sector at Houlihan Lokey.
Bluerock Capital Markets named Rebekah Brooks senior vice president of national accounts. Brooks previously worked at FS Investments.
Campbell Lutyens named Guillermo Marroquin named head of North American real assets. Marroquin was a managing director at Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets.
Canaccord Genuity: Shannon Soqui joined as a managing director and head of U.S. cannabis investment banking. Most recently, Soqui was partner and head of cannabis investment banking at Ackrell Capital.
DataPath, a provider of remote communications and information technology solutions for the aerospace, broadcast, government and critical infrastructure markets, said Chairman Chris Melton would add the post of interim CEO. Melton is also chairman and CEO of White Oak Group, an Atlanta private investment firm. DataPath is backed by White Oak Group.
Duff & Phelps, the valuation and corporate finance adviser, named three new managing directors to its corporate finance practice: Danielle Montesano, Alexandre Pierantoni and Kurt Steltenpohl.
EA Markets named Brad Polan as director at the investment bank. Polan had been vice president at SPP Capital Partners.
Evercore, the investment-banking adviser, named Peter Brundage a senior managing director in the advisory practice. Brundage was most recently a managing director in investment banking at Goldman Sachs.
Morrison & Foerster named Khoa Do a partner. Do is joining the law firm’s corporate practice and M&A group. He previously worked at Jones Day.
New York Life Insurance Co: The Madison Capital Funding subsidiary named Christopher Taylor CEO, effective June 30. Taylor will succeed Hugh Wade, who will become chairman of Madison Capital until he retires in December.
Nomura has made 15 senior appointments within investment banking in the Americas. Among the hires are Fedora Baloiu as a managing director in the New York-based healthcare group; Thomas Chung as a managing director and head of private capital markets in the equity capital markets group in New York; and Eric Jacobs as a managing director in the M&A group, also in New York.
Raymond James Financial named Christian Bullitt managing director for its financial sponsors group. Bullitt previously was managing director of business development at LLR Partners.
Sagent Advisors named James Flicker as a managing director and head of the investment-banking adviser’s paper and forest-products practice. Flicker previously ran the forest-products investment-banking practice at Greenhill & Co.
The9 Limited, a Chinese internet company, named Arthur Lau president and chief technology officer. Lau is founder and partner of Ark Pacific Capital Management.
Verady, the Atlanta provider of cryptocurrency accounting and audit technology services, appointed Bo Shen to the board. Shen is founder of Fenbushi Capital and Blockasset Fund.
Weil, Gotshal & Manges named Matthew Stewart a partner. Stewart is part of the firm’s private equity practice. Stewart previously was a partner in the M&A and PE practices in Silicon Valley at King & Spalding.

Canada Pension Plan Investment Board: Nick Zelenczuk, senior managing director and COO, who joined CPPIB in 2009, will retire May 31. Graeme Eadie, who last year stepped back from his role as global head of real assets, will retire March 31 but will stay on as an adviser. Eric Wetlaufer, senior managing director and global head of public market investments, who joined CPPIB in 2011, will leave as of May 31. CPPIB is assessing potential successors.
PROMOTIONS
Blue Ridge Partners, the McLean, Virginia, management consultant whose clients include more than 100 private equity firms, promoted Kevin Mulloy and Vincent Schuller tot Peursum to managing director. Blue Ridge also added Jennifer Parkes Kozak and Yan Val as principals to its leadership team.
Gen II Fund Services, a private equity fund administrator, promoted Shawn McMenimen and Stephen Ho to principal. McMenimen has senior-level responsibility for the client-service teams while Ho is responsible for running Gen II’s San Francisco service center.
Gridiron Capital promoted Kevin Jackson to senior managing partner. Jackson joined the New Canaan, Connecticut, middle-market PE firm in 2010 as a vice president and was promoted to senior managing director in 2017.
Huron Capital promoted James Mahoney and David Reynolds to senior partners. Mahoney joined Huron Capital over a decade ago while Reynolds first came on board in 2007.
Landmark Partners promoted 22 professionals. Among the four promoted to partner are Eddie Keith, Paul Parker, Ira Shaw and Charlie Tingue. Other senior promotions include Michelle Creed to managing director and John Stott, Rob Hershfield and Linda Rowland to director.
Ridgemont Equity Partners promoted Matt Ibbetson and Kelly Lineberger to principal. The middle-market private equity firm also promoted Sam Poole to associate.
