Prior to entering the private sector, MacLaren was a Ranger qualified officer in the US Army

Houston-based The Sterling Group, a middle-market private equity firm, has named Scott MacLaren as a partner, according to a news release.

Prior to joining Sterling in 2014, MacLaren worked at Boston Consulting Group where he focused on operational improvement initiatives for industrial and energy companies. Prior to entering the private sector, MacLaren was a Ranger qualified officer in the United States Army where he led a scout platoon during the troop surge in Iraq. He later served as a company commander in charge of 120 personnel.

MacLaren has a B.S. in economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
