The ABB Group and Berwind Private Equity have helped Persimmon Technologies Corporation, a semiconductor technology business, close its Series B funding round on $14 million. ABB Group and Berwind join existing investors Intel Capital, Nidec Sankyo and The Bernard Gordon Charitable Remainder Trust.
Armentum Partners, which provides debt capital raising services, has hired former TriplePoint Capital managing director Hutch Corbett as a managing partner. Corbett will help strengthen Armentum's focus on life sciences and technology.
Harbert Private Equity Fund III, the most recent fund of Harbert Management Corporation, acquired a majority interest in Central Environmental Services and certain affiliates. Central Environmental, headquartered in Washington, West Virginia, provides environmental oilfield services. Harbert partnered with Central's chief executive officer and principal owner Jeff Harper on the deal.
Famous Brands International, the parent company of TCBY Yogurt and Mrs. Fields Cookies, has appointed two people to its board of directors, including Joseph Nasr, a director at Z Capital Partners, which owns Famous Brands. Famous Brands also named Joyce Hrinya, a managing partner at A&R Strategy Partners, a strategic marketing firm, to the board. Z Capital took full ownership of Famous Brands last year, acquiring remaining minority stakes from The Carlyle Group.
HGGC has agreed to acquire Serena Software, which provides IT application development and deployment solutions, from Silver Lake Partners. HGGC will acquire the company in partnership with the company's founder Doug Troxel. Credit Suisse worked as financial advisor to HGGC and is providing financing for the deal.
Lausanne, Switzerland-based Gottex Brokers Alternative has opened in New York to better serve its U.S. clients. The expansion to New York is an answer to demand for Gottex's services on the east coast. The firm has an office in Los Angeles.

Avenida Capital has closed its debut Avenida Colombia Real Estate Fund I on $140 million, closing above its target. The fund primarily invests in the development of retail and residential projects in Colombia. Fund I has invested in 10 projects in nine different cities across the country.
