Canadian private equity firm Onex said Monday that it has closed its sale of The Warranty Group to TPG Capital for about $1.5 billion. Headquartered in Chicago, TWG is a a provider of extended warranty contracts.
Lion Equity Partners has acquired "substantially" all of Endurance Business Media assets, which includes Homes & Land, a real estate media platform based in Tallahassee, Florida. No financial terms were disclosed.
Thompson Street Capital Partners has acquired Stone Panels. No financial terms were disclosed for the transaction, which TSCP did with Stone Panels' management. Based in Coppell, Texas, Stone Panels is a maker of natural stone composite panels.
Apple has completed its purchase of a 13 percent stake in Beats for $404 million. The seller was Vivendi's UMG. Headquartered in Culver City, Calif., Beats is a maker of audio products. It was founded by rapper and music producer Dr. Dre and Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine.
Escort, which is owned by Monomoy Capital Partners, has hired David Thornhill as president and CEO. Prior to joining Escort, Thornhill worked at Igloo Products Corp. where he served as executive vice president and chief operations officer. Headquartered in West Chester, Ohio, Escort is a maker of radar and laser detector products.
InfoVista, a portfolio company of Thoma Bravo, has received 46.5 million euros in debt financing from Ares Management and GE Capital International. The ESSLP served as lead arranger for the senior loan. Based in France, InfoVista is a provider of IP and RF planning, assurance and optimization software solutions.
According to a source at the company, Resy closed $2 million in seed funding. VaynerRSE and Lerer Ventures led the round with participation from other investors that included TomsCapital/Panarea Capital, A-GRade Holdings and Slow Ventures. Based in New York, Resy is a restaurant reservations app.
VTTI has launched its IPO of 17.5 million shares at $21 per share. The stock began trading Friday on the NYSE under the ticker symbol "VTTI." Citigroup, J.P. Morgan, BofA Merrill Lynch, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank Securities and Wells Fargo Securities are the lead underwriters. VTTI is a limited partnership that owns, develops and acquires refined petroleum product and crude oil terminaling and related energy infrastructure assets.
KKR-owned First Data has acquired Gyft. No financial terms were disclosed. Based in Silicon Valley, Gyft is gift card platform.
Silicon Valley tech startup Entefy has received venture funding, bringing its total tally to $5.25 million. The investors were not named. Also, the firm has named Duncan Niederauer, former CEO of NYSE Euronext and Willem "Wim" Roelandts, former Chairman and CEO of Xilinx  to its board of directors.
