The Healthcare Private Equity Association elected Dr. Terry Woodward, director at Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, as association president starting July 1. Woodward co-founded the healthcare private equity practice at Ontario Teachers'. He has been a HCPEA director since 2014.
Reflective Venture Partners committed $6.3 million to four separate blockchain technology related start-ups and organizations. Reflective committed $2 million in SHOP, $1 million in Resonate, $300,000 in Xpansiv and $3 million in Dekrypt Capital.
Point72 Ventures led a $3 million seed financing round for for Extend, a card sharing platform, with investments from Plug and Play, Reciprocal Ventures, WorldQuant Ventures and other individual investors. Silicon Valley Bank was their initial bank provider.
Clif White Road Investments led a $900,000 seed financing for Milk Stork, a breast milk shipping company. The Urban Innovation Fund and other angel investors participated in the round. Press release
Third Rock Ventures raised $56.2 million in Series A funding for Cedilla Therapeutics, a biotechnology company concerned with protein stability. Cedilla Therapeutics was able to launch with its new funding.
HaystackID acquired Inspired Review, a managed review services company and Envision Discovery, an eDiscovery and managed services company. Additionally, with investments from management, Knox Capital, ORIX Mezzanine & Private Equity and Maranon Capital, the company created Haystack Holdings. Terms of the acquisition and investment transactions were not disclosed.
Flying Fish held a first close for its first venture fund, Flying Fish Partners I, on $27.8 million. The firm seeks to make investments of $500,000 to $5 million in software companies. Flying Fish is targeting $80 million for Fund I. Press release
Great Hill Partners and Reliam, a consulting and managed services provider for public cloud platforms, acquired Stratalux, a provider of Amazon Web Services consulting and managed services. The transaction was funded by an add-on investment into the parent platform company by Great Hill. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ardian agreed to sell its stake in London Luton Airport, a UK airport, to AMP Capital. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Ardian acquired 49 percent of the airport in 2013. Press release
