PSP Investments, one of Canada’s largest pension investment managers, sold a roughly US$1.5 billion portfolio of private equity holdings around the end of the third quarter, according to three people with knowledge of the deal, sister publication peHUB reported. The portfolio included holdings in large buyout funds, including Apax Partners, according to one source.

Canadian mid-market private equity firm Clairvest Group has made a US$28.5 million investment in Winters Bros. Waste Systems of CT LLC, a Danbury, Conn.-based solid waste collection, recycling and disposal company. The deal is being done in partnership with the company's principal shareholders, Joe and Sean Winters, who previously partnered with Clairvest at the time of its 2006 investment in the same business operating in Long Island, New York. The investment is Clairvest's fourth in the solid waste management industry, which is one of its core domain areas. The firm's co-CEO Jeff Parr was interviewed by peHUB Canada in June.
Golub Capital said Wednesday that it provided $193 million in financing to Aurora Capital Group to support its buy of National Technical Systems. Headquartered in Calabasas, Calif., NTS is a provider of testing and engineering services to the aerospace, defense, telecommunications, automotive, energy and high technology sectors.

The transaction was made at a price of SEK 19.40 per B share. Carnegie Investment Bank and Handelsbanken Capital Markets served as underwriters in the offering. Cloetta is a confectionary company that serves the Nordic region. the Netherlands and Italy.
Chicago-based Lincoln Park Capital Fund has agreed to invest up to $10.1 million in WestMountain Gold. According to terms of the agreement, WestMountain has the right to sell to LPC up to $10 million of its common stock for a two-year period. LPC has already purchased $100,000 of WestMountain stock at a price of $.88 per share. Headquartered in Sandpoint, Idaho, WestMountain Gold is a mineral exploration company.
Bain Capital LLC stands to make more than 4x its invested capital when it completes the sale of insurance software maker Applied Systems Inc in a secondary sale to Hellman & Friedman LLC, a person with knowledge of the transaction told Buyouts.
