Blackstone has named Vik Sawhney as chief administrative officer and global head of investor relations and business development. His appointment becomes effective January 1, 2020. Currently, Sawhney is chief operating officer of Blackstone's private equity business.
The Dementia Discovery Fund, a venture fund that invests in projects and companies that develop treatments for age-related dementias, has named Dr. Christian Jung as a partner. Previously, he worked at Wellington Partners Life Sciences where he was a principal. SV Health Investors manages DDF.
Arlington, Virginia-based ChurnZero, a customer success platform, has named Abby Hammer as chief customer officer, Hunter Montgomery as chief marketing officer and Jason Moore as vice president of sales. ChurnZero's backers included Baird Capital, Grotech Ventures and Middleland Capital.
Law firm Proskauer has named Warren Allan as a partner for its global private funds practice. He is based in London.
Roland Foods LLC, a portfolio company of Vestar Capital Partners, said Sept. 9 that Keith Dougherty has joined the company as chief executive officer. Tyler Hawes, who has led Roland since the retirement of former CEO Jim Wagner this spring, will continue to serve as president. Dougherty was most recently senior vice president, merchandising, pricing & inventory at Essendant Inc.
Berkeley, California-based Grabango, a checkout-free technology service provider to existing brick-and-mortar grocers and convenience store chains, has named Ryan Smith as vice president of product and engineering. Previously, Smith was vice president of product and engineering at Sight Machine. Grabango's backers include Propel Venture Partners, Ridge Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Commerce Ventures and Founders Fund.
Law firm Bass, Berry & Sims has named Angela Humphreys and Ryan Thomas as co-chairs of the healthcare private equity team. Thomas will also serve as chair of the firm's general industry private equity team.
Ridge Ventures, which last year raised $150 million for its fourth early-stage fund, has tapped Brendan Baker to join the team as partner. Baker was previously with Wing and Hone Capital, as well as such companies and accelerators as Passport, Shift, Batch, AngelPad and Techstars. On the investment team, he joins Alexander Rosen, Ben Metcalfe, Gil Penchina and Pat Kenealy.
