TCV members move up the ranks amid tech firm’s expansion

TCV promoted three investment members to the principal position, according to an internal memo seen by PE Hub.

The firm distributed a memo to employees on the evening of Dec. 11, announcing the promotions of Vice Presidents John Burke, Matt Robinson and Michelle Wickman. All have been named principals at TCV.

Burke joined TCV in October 2018 as an executive vice president. He previously spent five years at TCV portfolio company SiteMinder, holding various roles. Burke began at SiteMinder as an associate in 2013 and most recently served as the company’s CFO.

Robinson joined TCV as an associate in 2011 and rejoined as a vice president in 2016, working within the firm’s enterprise software investment team. Robinson has been involved with TCV’s investments in Cradlepoint, ExtraHop, Silver Peak, Venafi, HashiCorp and Vectra.

Wickman joined TCV’s newly created portfolio operations team earlier this year. As a vice president focused on customer success within TCV’s portfolio companies, she served an important role in the development of the TCV Portfolio Operating team’s engagement model, according to the memo. Prior to TCV, Wickman was the head of North American Operations Digitization and Technology at Citibank. She previously was the director of business applications at Vista Consulting Group.

Wickman is one of seven members in the TCV Portfolio Operating team, which launched in October under leadership of Susan Clark.

The firm has been in expansion mode, recently hiring Gopi Vaddi, an ex-Providence Equity executive, as a new partner in TCV’s London office. TCV also created a new head of capital markets role, hiring Jon Rauen from Morgan Stanley’s leverage acquisition and finance group to lead the effort.

TCV’s London-based team is likely to expand through additional hiring, although the firm did not specify which roles it will look to fill, Vaddi told PE Hub in December.
