SE Ventures, a new Silicon Valley-based firm backed by Schneider Electric, has named Grant Allen and Varun Jain as senior partners. Allen joins SEV from ABB where he led global ventures while Jain previously worked at Qualcomm Ventures where he led the global early-stage practice.
Pionyr Immunotherapeutics Inc, a developer of antibody therapeutics, has appointed Dr. Alicia Levey as senior vice president and chief business officer. Previously, Levey worked at Tempest Therapeutics where she was vice president and chief business officer. Pionyr's backers included OrbiMed, New Enterprise Associates, Sofinnova, SV Health Investors, Vida Ventures, Trinitas Capital, Mission Bay Capital and Osage University Partners.
Boca Raton, Florida-based Marc Bell Capital, a family office, has named Katya Fisher as adviser. Fisher is an expert and frequent speaker and media commentator on blockchain, technology and law.

Next Coast Ventures said Aug. 27 that Brian Sharples, Cotter Cunningham and Julian Castelli are joining its Entrepreneurs Council. Sharples previously co-founded and served as chairman and CEO of HomeAway Inc. Cunningham founded and served as CEO of RetailMeNot Inc, while Castelli is chief financial officer of Voxpopme.
Patty Abramson, a venture capitalist who co-founded the W0men's Growth Capital Fund in 1997 to invest in businesses owned by women, died Aug. 24 in Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. She was 74. Jenny Abramson, her daughter and a managing partner at the venture firm Rethink Impact, told The Washington Post her mother died from cancer-related complications.

Principal Global Investors has named Kamal Bhatia as president and CEO of principal funds. Previously, Bhatia worked at OC Private Capital, a joint venture between Oppenheimer Funds and Carlyle, where he served as CEO and chairman of the board.
